Our Services
The Parliamentary Pension Scheme provides a range of services aimed at safeguarding members’ retirement savings, administering benefits efficiently and supporting members to prepare for a financially secure retirement.
Benefits Administration
Benefits administration is at the core of the Scheme’s mandate. The Scheme receives and maintains member contribution records, determines benefits due and processes payments to eligible members and beneficiaries in accordance with the Parliamentary Pensions Act and applicable regulations.
The main benefits administered by the Scheme include:
- Retirement Benefits – payable to eligible members upon retirement in accordance with the provisions of the law.
- Withdrawal Benefits – payable to qualifying members who leave the Scheme before becoming eligible for a pension.
- Death Benefits – payable to eligible beneficiaries or dependents following the death of a member or pensioner.
- Pension Payments – regular pension payments made to eligible pensioners in accordance with the Scheme’s governing legal framework.
The Scheme also supports members and beneficiaries throughout the benefits process by providing information on eligibility, benefit computation, documentation requirements and claims processing.
Investment of Members’ Funds
The Scheme prudently invests members’ funds with the objective of preserving and growing their retirement savings.
The Board of Trustees oversees the investment of Scheme assets in accordance with the Parliamentary Pensions Act, applicable regulatory requirements and the Scheme’s investment policies. Professional fund managers and other service providers are engaged to support the responsible management of Scheme funds.
Member Information and Statements
The Scheme keeps members informed about their contributions, benefits and other matters relating to their membership.
Members receive information through periodic member statements, written notices, email and SMS communication, member help desks, the Scheme website and other approved communication channels.
These platforms enable members to keep track of their retirement savings and access information about their benefits and membership.
Member Education and Sensitisation
The Scheme conducts member education and sensitisation programmes to help members make informed decisions about retirement and financial planning.
Education programmes may cover areas such as retirement planning, financial literacy, personal savings, investment awareness, health and wellness, and preparation for life after formal employment.
The programmes are intended to equip members with practical knowledge that supports financial wellbeing before and during retirement.
Stakeholder Reporting and Accountability
The Scheme promotes transparency and accountability through regular reporting to members, the Board of Trustees, Parliament and the regulator.
The Scheme prepares member statements, annual reports, financial reports and other statutory disclosures in accordance with applicable laws and regulatory requirements.
